Highland walker airlifted to hospital after incident at the Falls of Glomach, one of the UK’s tallest waterfalls, in Wester Ross

A hiker was airlifted to hospital yesterday after an incident at the Falls of Glomach in Wester Ross.

The Kintail Mountain Rescue Team was scrambled to the scene after a walker set off an emergency personal locator beacon near the famous beauty spot at around 4pm.

“The team located the casualty quickly and thanks to coastguard helicopter R151 the casualty was lifted to hospital,” said a spokesperson for the team. “We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.

“Kintail Mountain Rescue Team is made up entirely of volunteers we are on call 365 days a year, seven days a week, 24 hours a day to help anyone who’s in trouble in the mountains.

The condition of the walker airlifted to hospital was unknown at the time of writing.
