Personal locator beacon helps find two walkers near Savage River
Two walkers who were prospecting for gold near Savage River on Tuesday night have been rescued.
The duo become lost in thick bushland 30 kilometres west of Waratah and low light meant they were unable to find their way.
Search and rescue crews, including local police officers and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, responded to a phone call for assistance shortly after 8.30pm.
The two men had a working personal locator beacon which allowed crews to locate them around 12.30am on Wednesday.
The men were safely extracted from the area.
