Coast Guard Sector watchstanders received an 406 Emergency Positioning Radio Beacon signal alerting of a possible distress.
Whilst making way information was received that a total of three PLBs had been activated relating to a group of seven sea kayakers.
Luckily, the men were able to set off their EPIRB which alerted the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
The group decided to use their PLB, and the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter was immediately dispatched to the scene to investigate.
